Lone Star College Lockdown: Lockdown Lifted at Tomball Campus After Reported Threat

A lockdown at the Tomball campus of Lone Star College was lifted Tuesday afternoon after authorities determined the campus was safe following a reported threat involving a firearm.

The incident began shortly after 1 p.m. when students, faculty, and staff at the Tomball campus received an emergency alert instructing them to immediately shelter in place. The notification directed individuals on campus to go to the nearest room, lock the door, remain quiet, and await further instructions. Officials emphasized that the alert was not a drill.

According to college officials, the lockdown was initiated after a student allegedly made a threat about returning to a vehicle to retrieve a firearm. Law enforcement and campus security responded quickly to assess the situation and secure the campus.

Approximately 30 minutes after the initial alert, authorities announced that the campus had been cleared and that the lockdown had been lifted. Officials stated that there was no ongoing threat to students or staff. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed whether a weapon was located, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made. The circumstances surrounding the reported threat continue to be investigated.

Lone Star College uses its emergency notification system, known as LoneStarCollegeAlert, to notify students and employees during situations involving immediate threats to campus safety. The system provides instructions for lockdowns, evacuations, and other emergency procedures.

The brief lockdown caused concern among students and families, but college officials thanked campus occupants for following emergency procedures while law enforcement worked to ensure the area was secure. Additional information may be released as the investigation progresses.
